Abella

In honor of the Farmington High School 2024 graduating class, we are highlighting a few of our outstanding seniors. These students have been nominated by Farmington Area Public Schools staff members for exhibiting hard work and pursuing their spark with passion during their time at FHS. Today’s Senior Spotlight is: Abella Childress!
Abella was nominated for her great communications skills. Her English teacher, Kelly Langdon, shared: “Abella's spark is communication – yes communication as in speaking, but in comparison to her peers, she understands the power of language and uses language as an artist, a poet, a memoirist and one day possibly a novelist, to better humanity. She is passionate about the work we do in the English/Language Arts classroom and how reading, writing, speaking and listening are necessary skills for all to develop empathy and ultimately to use our knowledge to empower others. I have seen Abella persevere through much adversity in her time here at FHS and I am excited to see what she will do with her skills as she continues to grow.”
During her time at FHS, Abella has taken part in Speech and Debate, Diversity Club and Link Crew. In her own words, “Continuing to persist even through adversity is the high school achievement that brings me the most pride.”
Outside of school, Abella enjoys painting, writing, and performing poetry. She also spends time taking care of her younger brother.

Here’s a little more about Abella and her time at FHS:
