Food Shelves

360 Communities food shelf

Our network of five food shelves provides food and resources to individuals and families to bridge them through difficult times. We partner with our food shelf guests on workable solutions that will stabilize them and offer hope for the future. We have food shelves in Burnsville, Rosemount, Lakeville, Apple Valley, and Farmington. These five shelves serve individuals from the surrounding communities as well as the greater south metro.

Donations are accepted at all of our food shelf locations. For a list of our most needed items or to learn how to run your own food drive, click the button on the right. We are also always in need of volunteers to help with daily operations at each location.

Healthy choice shopping models

360 Communities listens to the people we serve and responding directly to their feedback. We surveyed our food shelf customers and found that they wanted more healthy food options and an experience that surrounds them with friends and support.

The 360 Communities food shelf network has evolved to offer a store-like shopping experience with nutritious options for our neighbors. All five 360 Communities network food shelves feature healthy choice shopping. Food shelf guests can choose groceries that fit their family’s needs. Three of our food pantries are certified SuperShelf locations.

SuperShelf is a statewide collaborative that works with food shelves to:

  • Create a food shelf environment that is client-centered, promoting and respecting individual choice
  • Increase access to a variety of healthy, culturally appropriate food

  • Meet specific SuperShelf standards, methods, and values
  • Make the healthiest choice the easiest choice for all

Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS)

Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) is a food and nutrition program that is designed to provide healthy and nutritious food products for eligible seniors each month at no cost to participants. Through NAPS, Second Harvest Heartland provides a box of nutritious food each month to low-income seniors 60 years and older. This is supplemental to any regular food shelf assistance. Find NAPS distribution times at each of our food shelf locations.
