Senior Spotlight: Sarah Nordling

In honor of the Farmington High School 2021 graduating class, over the next several weeks we will be highlighting a few of our outstanding seniors. These students have been nominated by Farmington Area Public Schools staff members for exhibiting hard work and pursuing their spark with passion during their time at FHS. Today’s Senior Spotlight is: Sarah Nordling!

Sarah was nominated for being a kind and considerate person as well as a hard working student. She is a faith club leader, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, a member of LINK Crew, and on the Girls’ Golf Team. She also serves as a Teaching Assistant for Sandi Fox. According to Ms. Fox, “Sarah is an outstanding person and student. She is kind and considerate of everyone's feelings. She puts her all into everything she does.”

More about Sarah:

Favorite Classes & Teachers

“My favorite subjects are math and French, although UMN calculus is putting that statement to the test. One of my favorite high school memories is going to the Minnesota Zoo to do French presentations with other local high schools. We were supposed to be doing activities and presentations for elementary-age immersion students, instead, we ended up presenting information about otters to high school students while making them play a ring toss game. All of my teachers have been so amazing and supportive! They have all encouraged and challenged me to do the best that I can. Some teachers who have truly supported and cared for me, especially this year, include Monsieur Kvot, Ms. Meyer, Ms. Nygren, and Mrs. Fox, just to name a few.”

Future Plans

“I will be attending Augustana University this fall. I intend on majoring in biology or psychology. Whichever major I end up going into, I hope to work with children. I chose Augustana because of the small campus feel while still being located in a bigger town. I also value Augustana’s emphasis on community and volunteering.”

Advice for Future Seniors

“Try new things! It’s never too late to try new things, to put yourself out there, and to make new friends. I know that it’s exciting to start buying things for your dorm room or to make plans for after high school, but enjoy your senior year. Instead of wishing for it to be summer, relish in the chaos and stress that is senior year because it will be a memory before you know it.”
